Difference between Used and Refurbished CiscoIf you have ever googled Used Cisco, you know that there are a plethora of search results that come up, and if you have gone so far as to click through a few of those results you will see that the words “used” and “refurbished” seem to be used interchangeably.  So that means they mean the exact same thing right?

Well, no not really.

While they may look exactly the same from the outside, there are actually quite a few differences between Refurbished Cisco Switches and Used Cisco switches.  The problem is, if you do not know what those differences are you are much more likely to have a bad experience when purchasing any kind of pre-owned  networking gear. Any one can sell you a piece of used it gear,  but a reputable Cisco reseller will sell you refurbished piece of equipment that is guaranteed to work as perfectly  as the day it left the manufacturer.

So what makes refurbished Cisco switches different from used Cisco Switches, you ask.   Well, there are a great deal of differences!  In fact, the only thing that Used Cisco equipment and Refurbished Cisco equipment have in common is that they both start out as used or, as most network equipment resellers say, preowned.    The reality is, that used Cisco switches remain just that, used.  While Refurbished Cisco switches go through extensive testing, repair(s), factory resets and cleaning, to bring them back to like new condition.
